Roaring River

Another picture taken with the color accent feature – see the blue hikers on the right side.  Only the color blue is supposed to show in the shot.  I wanted to change it to green but by the time figured out how to do it, the trip was over.

Kids crack me up

Blue Forest

I used the color swap feature on my camera to swap out the greens and replace them with blue – surreal effect.

Mountain

I had the color accent on to accent only blue.  This turned out pretty well but the depth of field was wrong.  If the mountain was clear, this would have been a great photo.

Taken from rock

When there is nobody around to take a picture of the family, you just find a rock, balance the camera and set the timer.  This didn’t turn out quite as well as I hoped.

Back Again

Back from the mountains … good to be home except for the return of heat and humidity.
I took 333 photos – never would have done that back in the days of film.  My kids don’t even know about film.  The way  you had to send it off and then the pictures and negatives would come [...]

Fluorescent Cells

Bioephemera, one of my favorite reads,  posted about the 2010 GE Healthcare Cell Analyzer contest.  Apparently after staining, you can generate some awesome images at the cellular level.  This is one from last year and it is human epidermal keratinocytes stained for myosin (green), actin (red) and DNA (blue).

Mi Espousa

Great shot of my bride on Easter Sunday – Taken by the Princess.

Sand Castle

Constructed by my talented nephew.  I think it looks like something from Star Wars on the planet Tatooine.

Ocean Breeze

A shot of my little niece on the beach.

Sunrise at SPI

On out last day at Padre Island, we had to get up before the sun to get on the road.  In doing so, I got this great shot of the sunrise over the ocean.

The wheat field photo

Nearly two years ago I posted this photo of a Kansas wheat field that shot outside of Russell, KS.  I liked the photo and the  Shepherd of the Faith Ministries liked enough to make it the mast head on their web site.  I am humbled.

Lame Snowpeople

This is how our family of snow people look after a week of off and on cold weather.  Just for the record, its been a long winter and I am tired of being cold.

The heart of the Tomato

On the the Princess’ dinner plate was this tomato with a perfect heart inside – too late for Valentine’s day.

Lightning and Water

I like photos of weather and here are some great shots of lightning hitting the water.  That ship sure got an earful.
