Authenticating Art Through X-Rays

Apparently if you have a valuable painting, X-rays are a fairly common way to authenticate the painting and to find out some interesting stuff.  For instance:

Through x-ray research, it was revealed that this painting initially started as an old woman with her head bent over. X-rays also reveal a cow’s head in the top right corner.

So was the old woman playing a guitar or milking a cow…guess we will never know.  More of these at Art Experts Inc.
